The establishment of The Ramakrishna Vedanta Society of the Philippines in Manila was due to the joint efforts of some Filipino and expatriate devotees who started to meet privately in 2001 to discuss topics related to Vedanta during weekly meetings called “Dialogs”.

In 2002 these devotees invited Swami Medhasananda, the President of the Vedanta Society of Japan , to visit Manila and give spiritual guidance and assistance. Since 2002 and until 2016 the Swami has visited Manila once or at times twice yearly and has given public discourses, held free of charge in various locations of the Metro.

Thru the Swami’s relentless efforts these devotees were inspired to establish the Society into a non-profit non-stock religious corporation in 2006. The Society was formally inaugurated on 30 June 2007.

In 2008 a suitable location for the permanent seat was found in the Horseshoe village in Quezon City, the heart of Metro Manila. After the property was purchased in 2008, consisting of a lot and a dilapidated house, and more than a year of work, the house was restored and the Seat became fully operational after Revered Swami Smarananandaji Maharaj, then Vice President of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission of India, formally dedicated the Society on 6 June 2010. The Society has since then been conducting both spiritual ministry and philanthropic work.

Since September 2016 the Society has been under the spiritual ministry of Swami Udaarananda, a monk of the Ramakrishna Order. Under his leadership, the Society has been operating along the ideals, aims, objectives, practices and systems of the said Ramakrishna Math and Mission, which is an international, non-political, non-sectarian, spiritual and philanthropic organization with headquarters in India, engaged in various spiritual, humanitarian, educational, general welfare, cultural and social service activities since 1897.
